Talking about motivation! – A self-learner journey!

Motivation! this is something I want to talk about because I have been asked several times in the past few months about motivation. Estefania, how do you keep that energy up, how are you so motivated to do this or that all the time?…

Even since I decided to start this blog I have been questioning myself a lot about everything!! Is this going to be read by someone? I am going to achieve to touch someone life? Why am I doing this exactly? Is it for me or for others? Considering that I am also learning about blogging, websites and writing all by myself I discover that the main keys to success are PATIENCE and TO BE NICE WITH MYSELF. Yes, be nice with yourself when you are trying to learn something new!! You don’t have to know it all from day 1.

To be honest, I am not always super motivated to write, to post or do something related to this blog, and you know what? That’s completely normal and it’s perfectly fine! You don’t have to be always supeeeer motivated to do something even if is an activity that you enjoy, what I do believe is that you do need to do something to get where you want be!

What does this mean? This mean that even if you are not always inspired, you always have to do what you promised (to yourself or to others). In order to do that I always say to myself : Estefania even 30 min of this is better that doing absolutely nothing about it. You can’t continue to postpone yours dreams every time you are not motivated or you are never going to be where you want to be.

Also, I believe it’s important TO NOT OBSESS WITH THE RESULTS. Life or success is not measured by how many likes do you have on Instagram, Facebook or whatever you are using. Only you can measure and establish what success means and how you will get it. Yes, It is important to have the support of your community and I am incredibly thankful with all the people that like my photos on my Instagram account  (@theuniverseofphotography)and those who are following my photography improvement, but at the end of the day if a photo did not receive the attention I was expecting, is not the end of the world, I am nice to myself and I repeat this: Estefania you are still learning, you are improving every day, with every photo you took in the past and you are taking now you are growing and that is success! that is what’s going to lead you to get what you want.

I know this website is mostly focused on sharing photography tips, ideas, equipment, reviews, etc. After all it is called “Everything about photography” but I actually though it would be nice to write a little about motivation since is important not only for photography but for life.

I hope you liked this post, don’t hesitate about leaving a comment, how  do you keep motivated? What do you say to yourself in order to keep going??

The 3 P’s of photography-Practice, Patience and Passion!

Hello again everyone!! As I have been building my Instagram account I have been I bit disconnected of writing but never apart from Photography, I have been researching, taking pictures in beautiful places and posting them in my Instagram account @theuniverseofphotography…

By doing this for few weeks, I discovered the 3 P’s of Photography: Practice, Patience and Passion!! Now, the time has come to share with you!!

Practice! The Key to success!

As anything in life, photography is a lot about PRACTICE!! to improve you will have practice a lot. It’s really easy to understand something in theory, but there is a big difference between theory and reality.

Of course, you can understand the idea of freezing movement by playing with the shutter speed, but doing it meanwhile you are trying to catch a bird before it’s gone when you have to be careful with aperture and ISO so you have an appropriate exposure is not that easy. Nevertheless, the more you practice, the faster you will improve these skills and it will be easier to catch that beautiful bird!!

My secret?? I take my camera everywhere I go!!

Do you want to see my own improvement? Check out my post “The camera does not make the photographer-My own improvement!”

Patience! A great lesson photography can give to you

I am not going to lie! I am the most impatient person I know!!! When I want something I want it NOW, I have been struggling a little with this my whole life. But, when I started with photography I noticed that PATIENCE is one of the most important things any photographer should have.

Not only because you have a lot to learn, since photography is not only about picking up the camera and shooting, specially when you are learning by yourself as I did and I am still doing you definitely need PATIENCE, but also because you need to learn to identify and to wait for the best moment to shoot. Does that beautiful sunset could be more intense in few minutes, or maybe waiting the sun to be in the exact position where you want it to be in order to have a great shot could take a while. For me, PATIENCE is one of the thing photography is making me improve in my personal life!

and REMEMBER: A good photographer does not take a photo, He/She creates it !! So, you will need PATIENCE to create the best shot!

Passion- The one we need for everything!

I will assume that if you are reading this blog now is because photography causes you butterfly in your stomach. For me, As an immigrant and sometimes a SOLO Traveller,  I spend a lot of time taking walks by myself. Yes, at the beginning was hard for me to adapt to being alone and to push myself to go whenever I wanted to go alone, specially when you came from South America, where the idea of a woman traveling alone is not well accepted.

Now, after 3 years living alone in Montreal, adapting, making new friends and traveling from time to time I have discovered that as long as I have my camera with me I am never truly alone. In fact, whenever I am planning a field trip to take some photos I usually prefer to be alone. As I said, you need to be patient to get the shot you want and sometimes others could have plans that you often have to follow.

How this is related to passion? Easy!! Photography is my escape, when I feel “alone” or when I want to plan a trip and nobody can come with me, I just take my camera and I go outside or I book that flight because I know that as long I have my camera, those butterflies will be there to share those precious moments with me!

The 3 P’s of photography-Practice, Patience and Passion!

In resume, photography can be resume in 3 words Practice, Patience and Passion!! So, remember you need

PRACTICE to improve your skills!

PATIENCE to create the shot you want!

PASSION to follow your dreams no matter what!

I hope you enjoyed this post!! Don’t hesitate on leaving comments or asking questions!! I will be more than happy to know you!

Best compact travel cameras for 2019- Living the dream

Hi everyone!! Welcome again!! I hope you enjoyed my previous post where I have been introducing a little about the notions of photography… Today I want to continue talking about 2019 best choice on compact cameras.

There are few things you need to check out when you buy a new camera. First of all, what is your purpose?, do you really need that much resolution? are you going to print your photos in big format? or you only need to save your precious family memories on your computer or maybe to take some decent photos to promote your products online? In that case, no matter what sellers tell you, you don’t need a semi-pro or a pro camera. A compact model can perfectly do the work for you and you will save tons of money!!

Few things you need to look at in order to choose the right model for you:

Resolution: How big and how well define your photos will be. The bigger the number of Megapixels, the bigger your impressions can be with better quality.

Sensor size: The bigger the sensor,

Zoom Lens: This is the amount of magnification the lens can produce. A 50X Optical zoom lens can shoot to much longer distance. So the bigger this number is, the longer the distance you can shoot.

Viewfinder: The screen.

Native ISO: The lowest is your base ISO. With this you can produce the highest image quality, minimizing the noise (those tiny spots that can ruin your photo. But also, the lowest the ISO the less the light will pass through the lens. The modern model come with a base ISO of 100.

Extended ISO: Some cameras can work beyond their range. I don’t recommend using this, as you will lower your image quality a lot.

Shutter: Length of time when the sensor is going to be exposed to light. A speed of 1/1000 allows more light to get into the sensor (more time to open and close the shutter) and you will be able to freeze movement. A speed of 1/2 allows you to pass less light into the sensor (the shutter will open and close fast) and you will be able to capture movement.

Max aperture: Is expressed in f-numbers. This indicates how wide the lens can be open. An F1,4 will give you more aperture than a F32. Imagine is like your iris opening and closing depending on of how much light you need at the moment.
